About APPACROPS

The history, mission, and people behind the Association of Plant Physiology and Crop Production Students (APPACROPS) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

Plant Physiology Research, Experimental Agronomy and Crop Innovation at FUNAAB

Our Story

APPACROPS was established to provide every student in the Department of Plant Physiology and Crop Production (PPCP) at FUNAAB with an empowering home — academically, socially, and professionally. Under the College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT), we connect classroom plant physiology, biochemical diagnostics, and genetics with hands-on agronomy field trials and crop production systems.

Over the years, our departmental community has nurtured student scientists through structured academic clinics, experimental farm trials, research seminars, and inter-departmental sports, building an impactful legacy of leadership in agricultural sustainability and food security.

Plant Physiology & Stress Biology

Investigating photosynthetic efficiency, plant metabolism, phytohormone signaling, and drought adaptation mechanisms to enhance plant resilience.

Crop Agronomy & Production Systems

Mastering cropping systems, field trial design, planting geometry, agro-ecology, and yield optimization for cereal, legume, and cash crops.

Seed Technology & Agro-Innovation

Advancing seed vigor testing, crop growth modeling, post-harvest physiology, and modern agricultural biotechnologies for national food security.

OUR JOURNEY

Milestones Along the Way

2013

Founding of APPACROPS

Dedicated Plant Physiology and Crop Production students formalised the association to foster academic synergy, agronomic field trial support, and departmental representation.

2017

Academic Clinics & Practical Tutorials

What started as informal tutorials by senior students became a structured, termly clinic program covering plant physiology, crop genetics, and agronomic field trial methodology.

2020

Digital Dues & Member Portals

APPACROPS moved dues tracking and member records online for the first time, ending the era of paper receipts.

2023

E-Library & PPCP Research Repository

A centralized departmental repository of lecture materials, past questions, and crop science project archives became available to every registered member.

2026

Integrated APPACROPS Web Platform

APPACROPS launches a modern digital platform and student dashboard — connecting academics, crop production research, and departmental community.
